God give them strength.
I came across this blog today when I was looking at some others I regularly check. Please keep this family in your prayers. They have twin girls and one is losing her battle against neuroblastoma. The tumor has doubled in size in a week and has become chemo-resistant. They have sent her home to be with her family. I can not begin to imagine what this family is going through. Please pray that God will give them strength. There is a link to their blog on my page....half12.blogspot.com.

Top Tens Again
Since I am going to use this blog as kind of a record keeper of Cade's first year or so, I decided that I am going to do my top ten favorite things every 4-5 months to see how much he changes in this short amount of time....so here we go....
1. I love the way that Cade smiles in the morning when he hears my voice.
2. I love the way that he peaks through his crib when he hears his door open to see who is coming to save him.
3. I love the way he has this shy look that he gives. He puts his chin down and looks up at you with those big eyes.
4. I love the way he freaks out when I go to pick him up from daycare.
5. I love that when he tries to crawl, it looks like he is swimming.....and he is so proud of himself even though he isn't moving an inch.
6. I love how he is such a momma's boy. He loves his daddy but anytime he sees mommy come in the room, he definitely wants me.
7. I love when he has his last bottle at night and then pulls himself around to lay his head on my shoulder.
8. I love how he is a maniac in the bathtub. He splashes around like crazy.
9. I love how he clicks his tongue and imitates you when you do it back.
10. I love how he has learned to pick cereal up with his fingers but hasn't learned how to place them in his mouth so he just holds it and licks it.
These are just some little things and I could go on and on about the things I love. One thing is for sure, I absolutely love being a mom.

Would you like some milk with your mexican?
There is a new Mexican restaurant that opened up by our house so Justin and I decided to try it out last night. Of course it took some convincing for Justin to go but finally he agreed and we were on our way. We got there and everything was going great. Cade was holding his own bottle and drinking it like a big boy in his high chair and in a great mood. Cade had drank about half of his bottle when he let out a huge burp...I mean this was so loud that people turned around and I think they thought it was Justin. He started to get a little fussy so I sat him in my lap when all of a sudden....explosion! He projectile vomited all over the table, the floor, the booth seats, down his jacket, down his shirt, his pants, down mommy's shirt and pants! He only drank about 5 ounces but it kept coming like he had drank a gallon. It was coming out of his nose, his mouth, everywhere. Of course this is the ONLY time that I didn't bring his diaper bag in so my only defense was my jacket and his stuffed toy. The servers brought us about a week's worth of their napkins to help but they just kept sticking to everything I tried to wipe off. Needless to say, we got our food to go and I walked out holding a happy, smiley, stinky baby with a white, milk stained butt (I just had to wear black pants). Justin swears that we are not going to eat out as a family for at least 5 more months or until Cade is off of formula. He gets embarrassed REALLY easily so luckily he wasn't the one holding Cade. It would have scarred him for life. I should have taken a picture when we got home holding my smelly son and drenched in vomit...Oh the joys of parenthood. Really...I wouldn't trade it.

A thing of the past
Sleep that is. Is this boy EVER going to sleep more than 2-3 hours at a time?!? I think we have had 2 nights since we have been home from the hospital that we have been able to get about 5 hours of uninterrupted sleep.....2 nights in 7 months! Justin is now going on nights for 2 months so it will be up to me to run on about 3 hours of sleep per night and go to work all day. Sounds fun doesn't it??? I have tried to let him cry but the child works himself up so much and gets on his hands and knees and rocks back and forth like a crazy man until I pick him up. Justin worked nights all weekend and I am definitely feeling the aftermath today. I can't wait to hit the sack tonight after work!! Thanks goodness Justin is home for daddy duty!!!

Cabin Fever...
Me and my little monkey had a good time this weekend. Since daddy had to work all weekend, we got to hang out and have some mommy/son bonding time. We worked on some crawling and played outside....didn't leave the house once. I think we both started to get a little bit of cabin fever tonight but we had a nice, relaxing weekend.

No more false alarms....
Anyone that knows me knows that I insanely worry about SIDS. Justin and I bought a movement monitor before Cade was born and I have been religiously using it for 6.5 months. It is a monitor that will go off if it does not detect any movement, including breathing for 20 seconds. It does not prevent SIDS but it gives a little peace of mind. It was awesome when Cade was in his mini crib and gave us a little room to relax but ever since we moved Cade into his big boy crib, the thing will not work like it is supposed to. I guess his crib mattress is too thick for the sensitivity... or lack there of and it would go off in the middle of the night and scare the crap out of me. I dealt with the false alarms until last week when we decided that it was time for its retirement...after waking up and booking it down the hallway to Cade's room to find the alarm going off and Cade snoring away. I would have kept it longer, but there are a few cords that come out of the bottom of the mattress that I was worried might spark some wonder in my little man's mind now that he is starting to be able to move around in his crib and I think now that would be more of a threat than SIDS. I know that the risk of SIDS greatly reduces when 6 months hits but I will not be able to void that fear for at least another 5+months. I knew that being a mom brought new worries and fears but I feel like a nut case at all of the worries that I have about my little man....and this is just the beginning.......poor guy.
